Coil Conversations: Black Hair Salons
Going to the hair salon can be quite the experience! So much of an experience that there have been movies created with the black hair salon/barbers...

Coil Conversations: The Many Layers of Opinions on Black Women's Hair

Coil Conversations: The Many Layers of Opinions on Black Women's Hair
Hair discrimination whether in the workplace, at your local college campus, or just out and about in your community is nothing new. Aside from dreads, many black women have vented on social media about employers saying they can’t wear their hair in its naturally curly state or how one girl stated what an employer said, “We don’t accept that” when she went on a job interview. This becomes an even bigger issue when black women are told not to wear their hair curly or in protective styles like braids and dreads.

The Importance of a Well Placed Hair Oil

The Importance of a Well Placed Hair Oil
Essential oils are only used to lubricate and moisturize your scalp or to seal in moisture that you already worked through your hair. Fun fact! Beauty in All Black Hair!

Beauty in All Black Hair!
The natural hair movement became a liberating time for most black women. More women were loving on themselves, not giving into society standards on what “good hair” is or even just realizing how to better take care of their hair and having a healthier crown. It seemed like an exclusive club that you just had to either cut your hair or grow it out to get in! This change was amazing to see, but there is a flip side to this movement that I don't believe gets enough attention: the judgement.

The 3rd season of Insecure came and went way too fast for our liking, and we are already looking forward to season 4!  Although we have to wait until next year to see if Issa is able to get her company off the ground, if Molly is able to figure out who she is or if Issa and Lawrence ever have a chance; we can still reminisce over the awesome looks from this season. Let’s check out the dope items we’ve come up with for this season’s Coil Beauty shopping list.
